Recap: Brandon Hawkin took home his sixth win of the FAST Under Armour Cup Series season at Fulton in the Mud Slinger 250 on Wednesday night. Hawkin survived another caution-filled race that kept the average speed to 57.912 MPH. He did not earn any stage points but inherited the lead shortly after the conclusion of stage two and never gave it up from there.
Ryan Pace finished second for the second straight week. Sean Whitehill survived the carnage at the end and gained several spots on the final lap to finish third. Ricky Collette finished fourth and remains the only driver to finish in the top ten in every race so far this season. Colby Martin rounded out the top five, his first of the season, in his first race in over a month. Adam Sweet won the pole and swept both stage victories to earn two important playoff points should he qualify.
Next week, FAST heads to Pensacola for the APRS 250. Last season, Collette won the first race of a doubleheader that was the subject of a Radioactive segment produced by Davey Hazard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ). William Page then charged from 8th place at the white flag to victory lane in the second half as forever enshrined by a video from Pace (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGoH7xJ7WKU). A superspeedway, Pensacola gives drivers looking to qualify for the playoffs a great chance to make it in as the victory will truly be up for grabs.
